Relaxed & Minimalist Family Photos at Home in Charlottesville, VA

It doesn’t take much space in a home, or really anywhere to make gorgeous photographs.

Though I know that a beautiful location can bring so much to a session, I’ll always argue that your connection as a family and you just being you will always win out. Add some beautiful light, and you’re all set.

The day we had planned on photos for this sweet family ended up being more overcast than we expected, but with a few windows in their lovely home, we had all the light we needed and it was that lovely kind of diffused light. We hadn’t had the chance to photograph their newest addition as much due to his arrival in the beginning of lockdown, and I knew this was the perfect time to update those family photos, as the 6-9 month range is such a fun age to document, one of my favorites! At that stage, they are sitting up, but not always crawling and on the move. They still have their chunky baby rolls and their personalities are starting to develop. And I mean, is there anything better than a sweet & classic black and white portrait of a baby just in their diaper? I have a similar photograph of my daughter, and it will be a forever favorite.
