Getting to work with families year after year means I get to know each family a bit more year after year. Your kids get to know me, feel a bit more comfortable, and show me even more of their personality each year. It’s really an honor getting the chance to tell the ever-evolving and ever-changing story each year.
The Brickers are one of those families that I get to photograph each year and I find myself spurting out cliches each year as I exclaim ” I just can’t believe how much they’ve grown since the last session.” I know, I know, call me cliche and corny. But it’s SO true. Want a flashback? This was the first time I photographed Matilda. Talk about an incredible change!
This year, we were racing against the storm clouds, but we still managed to make some photos at home happen before we popped over to Greenleaf park – a favorite here in town! One of my favorite images? Matilda singing and chatting with us with her hair blowing in the wind on the drive over. I remember Elisa sharing a little instastory of Matilda howling like a wolf this summer out of the car and I just had to recreate it – it’s so indicative of the fearlessness and freedom of childhood, don’t you think?
