You may remember this sweet couple from their engagement session here in Charlottesville at The Market at Grelen. The funny part is, they actually live in Texas, and recently moved from Nashville last year.
The world truly is small and it’s a funny place. You may also remember from my post about their engagement session that I met Stephanie on a plane to Charlottesville. I was headed home after a whirlwind weekend in Nashville for some family sessions, and she was headed to a wedding in Charlottesville. I commented on her purse, and we got to talking. We found out we both had recently moved from Nashville and chatted about how moving has been, starting over, you name it.
She talked so adoringly about her boyfriend, Freddy, and how she had an inkling they would be engaged soon. I told her that I was a wedding photographer and that I travel often, so if she ever needed anything, please reach out. Well, he popped the question and shortly after, I got a sweet email from Stephanie. At first, they talked about marrying in Texas but landed on Lake Tahoe through a various set of reasons, one of them being that her dear grandmother could be there if they had their wedding in Lake Tahoe since it was closer to her.
But Olympic Valley & Lake Tahoe had even more meaning, as her parents had married in the area and her grandfather had been a pastor in the area. I just love when stories come full circle like that!
I arrived a couple days early so that Jeremy and I could explore the area and scout the area around her venue. I couldn’t believe the mountains were still snow-capped! The landscape in California will never cease to amaze me.
When their wedding day finally arrived, it was nothing short of calm and perfect. There was a perfect breeze, beautiful sunshine and the best June weather you could hope for. They had friends and family join them from all over the country from all the places they have called home. And of course, we had to sneak away for some portraits in the main meadows of Olympic Valley!
Congratulations, you two! It was a treat and honor to document your wedding day! I hope you enjoy these photos for countless years to come!
