All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I’ve been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don’t mean anything
When you’ve got no one to tell them to
It’s true… I was made for you
-Brandi Carlile, “The Story”
At the beginning of every wedding I shoot, I think back to the day that I married Jeremy. I pause to reflect on the excitement, the anticipation, and the beautiful and organized chaos of emotions. Our wedding day will always be one of my favorite days, and to know how much has happened and how much growth has ensued since day 1 excites me for the couple who is about to embark. Sure, it’s not rainbows and daisies…it’s so much better. Yes, even the hard stuff.
Three years later, I can still remember from the second I woke up until the time we drove away on our wedding day. It was an incredible amount of work bringing it together and it truly took a village to make it happen. Sometimes I think it’s a miracle how it happened without hiccups.
Our day was DIY in every sense of the word, and it was full of family and friends (who may as well be family!). It was the one day we had everyone we loved in one place and it’s something we’ll never forget.
To say that I loved Jeremy then kinda makes me laugh…because I absolutely did, but now I love that man beside me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. To have your best friend beside you day and night is something I’ll be forever grateful for. He’s more encouraging and patient than I could have imagined…and loves me through all my spunkiness.
So, to those of you getting married…get ready. You’re going to learn more about yourself than you care to know and you’re going to be pushed in ways you probably hoped you wouldn’t be, but the opportunity to unify in marriage and truly become one….well, it’s truly indescribable the way God designed marriage. You’ll have to work at it, and every day you get to choose each other. And I’m thankful Jeremy chose me and that I get the chance to choose him.
And because I love reliving different moments from the day, here are a few of my favorites (they often change!) and a sneak peek into our day:
I never tire of looking at these.
